What To Do After An Accident

First of all, you must contact the local authorities by calling 911. This way you can alert the police and also get medical help on the way. Next, check on others that were involved in the accident to make sure they do not need immediate help before the EMS arrives. Other than that, make sure you are safely away from your vehicle is you see any fluids leaking or smell gas. Also, make sure you are safe from other traffic that may be congested in the area due to road blockage.

Sometimes you may not feel pain immediately after the crash. With many soft tissue injuries, pain or other obvious symptoms may not begin until a day or two later. Regardless of the presence of pain, it is a good idea to schedule an appointment with a doctor so that you can be examined to make sure you were not injured. Florida Law now requires you to go to a doctor within 14 days of the accident in order to qualify for insurance benefits. If you fail to see a doctor within this 14 day window, the insurance company is not required to pay for treatment of any injuries caused during the crash.
